We all know the tradition that the bride is supposed to wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. But if you can’t seem to fit these into your attire, try incorporating this into other things around your wedding, such as your bouquet. Many brides are adding ornate broaches to their bouquets; maybe a close relative has an old one that you could borrow (that takes care of your something old and something borrowed)! As for something blue, you could have your bouquet wrapped with blue ribbon, or if you don’t prefer to have the blue seen you could have a hidden single blue flower and it will be your little secret! And for something new, have someone special to you pick out a small, pretty charm to attach to the ribbon on your flowers. Not only will this look beautiful, but you will get some use out of it after the wedding!
You could also use this tradition on your dessert table! If you plan on using family recipes this will be very simple. Borrow your mother’s, aunt’s or grandmother’s famous cookie recipes. Use a recipe that has been in your family for generations. That’s something borrowed, and something old. You can use blue icing, or sprinkles for your something blue. Or you could place the cookies on blue platters. And of course for your something new, find a new recipe that will appeal to everyone and perfect it for your big day!
